

Meet Our Pastor-elect
BIOGRAPHY
Reverend Kelsey Lodge, a native of Rocky Mount, NC, and a product of Nash-
Rocky Mount Public School System, is a graduate of Elizabeth City State
University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice. Upon
graduation, he began his work as an 8 th English/Social Studies Teacher in Halifax
County Schools. After two years of classroom service, he was selected as the Unit
Director for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Nash/Edgecombe Counties from 2001-
2004. In January 2004, Rev. Lodge was promoted to Executive Director of the
Boys and Girls Club of Halifax Counties. After leaving Halifax County in 2005,
He became the In-School Suspension Coordinator at Hillside High School in
Durham, NC, and was later promoted to help implement a new innovative
S.T.E.M. school called Hillside New Tech High School in 2007. Rev. Lodge is the
Employee Relations/Promotions Manager at Child Trends based out of Bethesda,
Maryland. He is currently pursuing his Master of Science Degree in
Leadership/Human Resources from Pfeiffer University.
Rev. Lodge’s biggest milestone in his life was when he accepted his calling to the
ministry in April 2012 and delivered his initial sermon on August 12, 2012. He
was ordained as a Reverend on June 26, 2016. Rev. Lodge is currently an
Associate Minister at West Durham Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev.
Dr. LaMont Johnson, where he serves as the minister for the Young Adults.

On December 15, 2024, the General Board and members at Cox Memorial
Freewill Baptist Church met and unanimously voted that Rev. Lodge would be
their Interim Pastor. Sunday, January 19, 2025, was Rev. Kelsey Lodge first
Sunday as Interim Pastor at Cox Memorial Freewill Baptist Church.
Rev. Lodge is the recipient of numerous awards such as the Spectacular Magazine
Man of the Year for Community Service in Durham, NC, the Business Education
Partnership Award for Roanoke Rapids, the Executive Leadership Award for Boys
and Girls Club, and a commissioned District Executive for the Boy Scouts of
America. He is a proud member of the 100 Black Men Triangle East Chapter, a
Collegiate Advisor for the 100 Black Men at North Carolina Central University, a
member of the Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance and Vicinity, and a
member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
His favorite scripture is “Trust in the Lord, with all thine heart and lean not to thine
own understanding, in all thy ways acknowledge him and he will direct thy path.”
Proverbs 3:5-7.
